Mini Vulnerability Toolkit Workshop 4: Conversations around suicide and self-harm

A practical, confidence building toolkit session with useful takeaways.

We are pleased to announce our fourth Toolkit Session aimed at Frontline Staff. A practical, confidence building toolkit session with useful takeaways.

Having difficult and serious customer conversations about suicide can be upsetting for all concerned.

A confident, compassionate and considered response during these conversations can make the individual feel visible, valued and listened to. This increases the chance of them accessing and receiving the specialist support they need.

Put simply, our response can make a difference between life and death.

In this one hour workshop, Helen Pettifer will share key insights of suicide in the UK, why businesses must be focusing on this and how to navigate conversations when a suicide is mentioned.

Learning outcomes

  • Understand the suicide landscape and why disclosures must be taken serious
  • Understand the importance of having a workplace suicide prevention policy
  • Know how to respond to a suicide disclosure

Helen Pettifer is a leading authority on vulnerable customer issues helping firms understand and deal with their vulnerable customers, especially those experiencing suicidal thoughts. Drawing on personal experience, industry insights and conversations with those directly impacted. Helen is committed to doing all she can to reduce the number of people who feel they’re out of options and can’t carry on living.

Please note:
Suicide can be a triggering and upsetting subject to talk about. It is important to remember that delegates attending this course may need an opportunity to quietly reflect or talk to someone they trust following the session.

This is not a FIRST AID course.

It will equip delegates with useful questioning techniques, which will also help in gaining customer trust and confidence. Delegates will have a useful handout to take away to refer to and keep as a reference.

Your staff can build up a fantastic portfolio of aids to use on a day to day basis as they attend our Mini Toolkit Workshops.

To book: email or phone 0161 870 6637. Zoom details will be sent in advance of the session.
